My Two Trips to New York City: Nasir S.

During the week, we went on two trips back to back. The first trip we went on was to the Brooklyn Bridge and to City Hall Park. For this trip we were assigned to take unique pictures such as Fill The Frame, Unusual Point of View, Still Life and etc. The second trip was to walk down Fifth Avenue and take specific photos that were given to you earlier in the day. The type of pictures I was given to take was brand/store names of any sort. Which was somewhat different from the Brooklyn bridge photos, which only included objects and sometimes people but also had some similarities.
For the Brooklyn Bridge trip, I chose to take Action, Landscape, and Fill the Frame Photos. For the action photos, I used cars that were driving by on the side highways, as well as bikers going down the bridge, to the main street. The way I captured a landscape photo was by finding a perfect scene of buildings bunched together to create a good city landscape photo. The way I captured a fill the frame photo was by taking a photo of the Brooklyn Bridge middle arched post, and made it fit the whole entire screen. Which has some similarities to the second trip to Fifth Avenue.
My assignment for the second trip was to take the minimum of 10 photos of store brands/names that I found interesting. This is also called a typology of store brands. Reason being is because typology stands for a pattern of a specific object, figure, or person. So while we walked through the heavily crowded Fifth Avenue, I captured photos of different store brands/names by filling the frame, somewhat landscape, and unusual point of views. Both these trips help me learn how to take better fill the frame photos and Landscape as well, which would help me in the future, if I get a pop quiz on how to take photos like those.
