My Trips to the City: Jalen

Our first trip on Thursday, May 16th was to the Brooklyn bridge and city hall park. it was a very interesting trip because we got to see an important/ famous bridge in New York. On our way to the bridge we saw the new world trade center which looks excellent. My photo of it (which is my second photo up above) is one of my favorite photos that i took that day. I like the way it shows the reflective surface of the building and how the storm clouds make one side dark while the other is light. Another one of my favorite pictures was my picture of the bridge with the skyline of Brooklyn. It looked really nice to me how the sky and clouds looked with the bridge in the center. Over all i was happy with the trip and the pictures i took.

Our second trip on Friday, May 17th was the walk up and down the famous street in New York 5th Ave. We were given an assignment to take photos and try to create a typology with a specific item in mind. A typology is "the study or systematic classification (photography) of types (things, items, people) that have characteristics or traits in common." My project was to take pictures of brand names. So the photo set above is my take on a typology of brand name signs.

MY TRIPS TO NEW YORK

I went to New York City two days in a row. The first day we went Brooklyn bridge and walk around on the bridge. The second day we went to 5th ave to central park. That was a lot of fun. If I had to pick with day I like more I probably would choose 5t ave and central park.
The first day was funny but I would have rater going somewhere else. As we where on the bridge bike would fly by you and the bridge felt like it was shacking. But as we where talking pictures a black family of 5 or 6 boy started to dance and tell jokes. They were in the middle of the sidewalk. For their finishing act a guy flipped over four people three girls and one” TALL WHITE MAN” as they would say.
The next day we went to 5th ave and walk to central park. I like this one more because we went to a huge Nike shop. The Nike shops had perfect light to take pictures. At least for my taste in pictures. The Nike shop had 5 floors and on the three floors was soccer stuff I took pictures of a Nike shoes that I love. I had so much fun in New York these two days .I cannot wait for the next trip

NYC field trips

Last Thursday and Friday, the 16th and 17th of may, my class went to NYC and took photo's. On Thursday we went to the world trade center, city hall square and to the Brooklyn bridge. Then on Friday we went to 5th ave and walked all away up to 63rd street. Also on Friday my whole class was given an assignment to do while we where on 5th ave. I was given the assignment to take photo's of company logos.

On Thursday when we where in city hall square I saw that there was a lot of onion flowers. So I went up close to it and took a photo of it and, using rule of thirds and I used filling the frame. At first i couldn't get it because it kept coming out too blurry, and if I put the exposure higher, it would come out a lot more blurry, and then I held the flower and took the photo, and it came out perfect. Then we walked to the Brooklyn bridge from the park. While we were in the middle, I just looked up and I was so astonished of what I saw and I just kept on trying to get the photo and after taking tree photos, using unusual point of view, I finally got it and it looked amazing. Then at the end of the field trip went back to city hall park and I was just looking at a light pole and it just caught my attention because the sun was hitting it and I noticed that if I took a photo of it I would be using abstract shapes and forms, so I took a photo of it and, and I was happy that I took it.

On Friday when my class and I where walking on 5th ave, as I said, I was given the assignment to take photos of company logos. Your probably thinking that it was easy, well it wasn't.
For like 30 minuets I couldn't find a good photo of a logo. Then after the 30 minuets I finally found
a Lord and Taylor logo that was in front of me, I took a photo of it using fill the frame. Then after that it was very easy to find logos, we passed by a Lacoste store and I saw  that they were advertising there colon and on the colon there was a   Lacoste logo and i just took a photo of it using rule of thirds and fill the frame. Then we passed by a a store that sells glasses and I saw the ray-ban logo and for some reason it was the one that stuck out out of all of them. I then took of a photo of it using fill the frame. Then while we were going up 5th ave there was tons and tons of stores and I saw that there was a Gucci that the window had a reflection and I was amused, it really caught my attention, so I took a photo of and i was so happy that I took this photo. Then we

to the nike store and I noticed that inside the only thing they were advertising was three pair of basketball sneakers, but then when i went outside I saw on the window that they had the same three sneakers on the window and I just took a photo of it. Then we went to the apple store and I saw one of the logos had really nice lighting to it. It almost looked as if I was using may own light, but I wasn't using my own light I just saw that the logo on the computer was being lighted by a light in the store from an angle so I just took the photo and it came out perfect.

A trip to remember

On Thursday May 16, we went to the Brooklyn Bridge. It started to rain when we arrived there, but we didn't lose hope. When the rain stopped we made our way up the bridge making it possible to capture great photos. The next day we went to New York city again and visited the famous street, 5th Ave. Besides all the walking we had to do. I was able to capture awesome photos. We were able to go inside the Nike store and also visit the apple store. Both trips were great especially for me since I've never been in either of places we visited.

On the Brooklyn Bridge I captured some photos I thought they were great. Being that it was my first time there, I fell inspired by the view. I was able to capture leading lines with the use of the wires that hold the bridge in place. I tried atypical point of view and got a photo of peoples shoes as they walked by the bridge. I then got inspired by looking at other photographers' silhouette's that I wanted try it out myself. I was able to get what I wanted by lowering the exposure making it seem like it was night. With the use of the sun, I was able to use it as my only light.

On May 17, we took a trip to 5th Ave. Each of us were ask to take a typology of something. I took on the assignment of taking a typology of circles or ovals. A typology is "The study or system classification (photography) of types (things, items, people) that have characteristic or traits in common." As you can see on the left and right, this were some of the photos I took of circle or ovals. Some of these are regular items that we walk by and don't give that much attention too. Using rule of thirds and atypical point of view, my pictures came out great.

Two Trip's to NYC

The 16th and 17th of this month we went to NYC to take fantastic pictures. Thursday the sixteenth we went to the Brooklyn Bridge and the view was fascinating. Before we arrived at the bridge, the group was caught in a slight storm which for our luck cleared up quickly. The rest of the day remained cool and cloudy, good enough to take pictures. After we got off the bridge, we went to this small plaza with a small fountain that caught my attention. The view was amazing and the green space was very organized and clean. The following day we walked around the city on 5th avenue all the way to 63rd street. That day each one of us were given an assignment to take pictures of a typology and we had to chose from the paper. My typology was to take pictures of random strangers texting.

On Thursday while I was on the bridge I took lots of pictures but decided to display one which is an abstract (the picture at the bottom) In this picture I decided to simplify the background so the way the point of view is in the texture of my object. What grabbed my attention about this object was the repeating design on it just like patterns. This was a cable holding part of the bridge. After taking pictures of the bridge, I took a couple in the plaza. My main focus was the appealing fountain. There was excessive amount of light which gave it and interesting effect of over exposed towards the upper thirds of my photo. What I also liked about this picture is the placement of the bushes. From the position I took the photo, the fountain is in the middle of the frame and the bushes fill in the frame. I really enjoyed the trip.

On Friday we did a lot of walking around the city with the intention of completing our assignment. I had to take six photo's of people texting. I took more but decided to share the following six with you because to me they had something unique. This task wasn't easy due to the reactions of certain individuals and also the short time I had to get the right image while people were moving. In the following photo's you can appreciate the rule of thirds. I tried my best to get my subjects in the thirds of the frame as they were moving. I tried to make as least noticeable as possible. Another technique I kept in mind was to simplify the background. I was taking pictures with such discrecy that I managed to take a photograph of a cop texting. This trip was very interesting, it helped me practice my photography skills. I enjoyed the trip and would totally do it again.

Field trips to newyork city

The first trip went on was to he Brooklyn Bridge capturing different views from the bridge. With our cameras each of of us students framed a unique point from the bridge that caught our eye. The second trip we took a walk along 5th avenue to fill the work of the different typology's that we were assigned. As the pictures displayed, I was assigned to capture logos along 5th avenue. Above you can see my typology displayed, i chose to take document photos of logos. Many logos were displayed along the streets of New York so the assignment wasn't a hard one.

The trip before the 5th avenue typology assignment we walked half way across the Brooklyn Bridge. Leading lines are my main interest when it comes to photography so when on the bridge, leading lines was my main focus. From focusing on leading lines I developed the frame of interesting parts of the bridge.

Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall Park: Onel G

On Thursday May 16, 2013, we went on a trip to New York. We went to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. However, prior to actually walking on the Brooklyn Bridge, we first visited City Hall Park. Both of these pictures were taken at City Hall Park. The first picture shows framing as its framing the water fountain in between those trees. In addition, it shows symmetry. The second picture shows symmetry and is an up close view of the water fountain.
