Backpacking Preparation
It seems like it was just yesterday I was walking the long trails of the backpacking project my freshman year. Till this day I can remember every detail about it that made my experience memorable. This time the freshman from the class of 2016 will keep the 40th annual tradition of the backpacking project. Just days before they leave on the five day hike, the freshman are getting prepare for the long journey. The freshman just returned from the three day hike. They got a little taste of the backpacking, but the real challenge comes next week. The freshman today where preparing how to put a tent up, their tarps, and boil a pot of water. This test is to demonstrate if the freshman are prepared or not.
With the help of the Midshipmen from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. They were able to give the Freshman a helping hand. They too will walk the Fifty mile hike and hopefully enjoy it like i did my freshman year. MDN Dan S. and MDN Randon M. have the responsibility overseeing and training the freshmen. By the end of the day, both the Freshman and the Midshipmen will be prepared to hopefully take on the challenge next week.
